Meditation Fundamentals: Stillness and Loving-Kindness
Join Hali and Mike for 30 minutes of yin (simple, no sweat) yoga followed by one and a half hours of meditation instruction and practice. Students will learn accessible techniques that form and enhance the foundation of meditation, cultivating a focused mind, and explore practices that serve to open the heart through loving-kindness and compassion--toward oneself and others.
Beginners as well as experienced meditators are welcome!
About the Instructors:
Hali Biuso established her yoga practice in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada. Here she was exposed to a variety of styles of yoga and was able to carve her own personal yoga path as she experienced all that yoga has to offer. During this time she was incredibly lucky to practice with one of Yin Yoga's master teachers, Bernie Clark, and eventually take his Yin Yoga Teacher Training in 2013. Yin Yoga has been a vital bridge for Hali from asana to her meditation seat. She loves the balance Yin Yoga brings to her more Yang style practice (and life) and hopes it can do the same for you.
Mike Biuso has been studying and practicing meditation for over a decade. He has taught meditation to professional athletes, prison inmates, people seeking mental health care, and those who wish to investigate and calm their own mind. He has discovered the wealth of benefits gained through his own experience of a regular meditation practice and enjoys sharing it in his yoga classes and in his work as a professional mental health therapist.
