"More than a decade ago Stephani Lindsey was attending an immersion and teacher training with Christina Sell and I at yo. She was living in Flagstaff at the time. One night Bronwin and I invited everyone in the training up to our house. I got into a conversation with Stephani and she mentioned the idea of possibly moving to Tucson. I asked her to write it down on a piece of paper. I then put it on my puja (alter).
A few weeks later Stephani made the move. A bold one at that since she had no job and no savings. She started with just a handful of classes. Little by little, year by year, she taught more classes than any teacher at yo. Her classes became so popular we always had a teacher on standby to teach overflow. When that was not an option (yo downtown) she taught 2 classes back to back so as to not turn students away (40+ students in each class = 80+ students!).
Having a lot of classes and students is one thing. Creating a time, place, and space for community to happen--that's what the local studio is all about in my view. In Stephani's classes groups of students often showed up together before or after having coffee together. Many students became dear friends with each other (a few that I know of even fell in love!).
Stephani exudes a bigger than life brightness bright light. And, wow, her dedication to her own practice is rare. To date, on a regular basis, she flies out to study with Christina Sell and Manorama. For 15 plus years she has devoted herself to yoga and yo has benefited so much from that. She is a great example of how the potency of one practice can inspire the practice of myriad-many.
As many of you know Stephani now resides in Phoenix. On a weekly basis she made the trip to yo central and taught 3-4 classes in one day. Although it felt like too much for her she felt called to do it to serve and stay connected to her students. And then...she got pregnant! A game changer like no other. As she starts to now teach more regularly in Phoenix, she's unable to be in two places at once any longer.
Please attend Stephani's final finale yo central classes (info below.) It's a chance to say goodbye and wish her well as she embarks on a new chapter in her life.
The good news: Stephani lives a mere 2 hours away. It's inevitable that we will coax her down to teach workshops here and there at yo. Stephani, your contribution to yo is undeniable and indelible. In some ways we can't miss you because your influence will yo remain."
