About:

Whether you’re brand new to yoga, or looking for a refresher, this 6-week series is intended to develop and maintain a strong foundation of practice. Over the course of this series, we’ll break down poses that are commonly encountered in public classes, as well as cover foundational anatomy principles and terminology. We’ll also explore how to use props and variations to make poses more accessible and add tools to your yoga tool belt. We’re aiming for participation over perfection here, so expect a slow and steady pace with lots of options offered. Plus, each class will build on the class(es) prior, and there will be plenty of room for questions!

All are welcome. No previous yoga or fitness experience is necessary. Wear clothes you can comfortably move in. Bring water and a mat if you have one. All props are provided, and mats available upon request.

Topics per Sessions:

April 7 - Introduction 101. Expect more dialogue in this first class to cover basic class structure and yoga/anatomy terminology. Expect the class difficulty level to be on par with an Intro class. Key pose players: child's pose, cat/cow, locust, downward facing dog

April 14 - Get grounded. Key pose players: crescent, warrior 2, extended side angle, triangle variations

April 21 - Establish balance. Key pose players: monkey lunge, tree, warrior 1, warrior 3 variations

April 28 - Principles of sun salutations & basic backbends. Key pose players: plank, chatarunga, cobra, upward facing dog, bridge variations

May 5 - Hips, folds, and twists. Key pose players: pigeon, double diamond, cobbler's pose, half lord of the fishes, seated/standing/reclined forward folds

May 12 - All together now! Final class will be comprised of poses from the previous 5 weeks. Expect a full spectrum style, basics-level class.
