ABOUT:

Meditation Hour is for the beginning or seasoned practitioner to: cultivate an ongoing practice; strengthen an existing one; and learn more about mindfulness in a welcoming and kind environment where all experiences and questions belong.

As a participant, you will receive tools to awaken from habitual patterns of response in order to meet each moment afresh. We will practice mindfulness of breath, body, thoughts and emotions and look at ways of bringing our practice alive in the world. We will reflect upon challenges and triumphs, personal and collective, with wisdom and compassion.

Class entails a welcoming and intro, a 15 minute talk, a 15-20 minute guided meditation, and 10-15 minutes for Q&A at the end.

About Ivy Ross Ricci

Ivy Ross Ricci marries mindfulness and human rights in the engaged Buddhist tradition, devoted to a long haul collaborative and creative vision of  an emergent equitable world. She is a nationally recognized facilitator, writer, musician, and love-in-actionist who addresses challenging social and environmental issues via critical thinking, compassion, and strategic action planning.  She is known for creativity, flexibility, playfulness, and innovative solutions.

Ivy currently works as a consultant and facilitator for bias management workshops and is a meditation student of Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield and Konda Mason. Her work with youth and adults aims to dismantle systems of  harm, oppression, and discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, race, class, ethnicity, and ability. She sees mindfulness meditation as a potent portal to understanding the conditioning of ourselves and the world around us and a getable gateway to choice and freedom beyond conditioned thinking and habitual patterns of response.
