Resilient Roots Vision
While living under the oppressive forces of dominant culture, it is easy to feel isolated and fatigued by the systems that aim to separate and harm us. But amidst this loneliness, there's a comforting truth: we’re all part of a larger tapestry of hope and resilience. The aim of this space is to provide a supportive, nourishing container for the Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTBIPOC) community to gather and explore the ways in which our personal healing journeys are intertwined with the world’s challenges - expanding our focus from self-care to community care. It’s a chance to rest, relax, laugh, move our bodies, express, reflect on the politics of community care, and learn practical ways to look after each other and build sustainable wellness practices. This workshop is intended to be a space in which all bodies, minds, and souls feel comfortable in practising yoga and will provide trauma-informed, consent-based care. No prior yoga experience is needed, no special yoga attire is required - wear what makes you feel comfortable and affirmed. In this class we will: • Practice 45 minute (trauma-informed) somatic-based restorative flow • Reflect the experience of being QTBIPOC and the lineages/histories we come from. • Meditate and discuss the principles of yoga & justice and how we might connect these intersections toward collective liberation • Guided meditation for making tangible the future visions we dare to dream for our communities and the world at large • Explore and develop a practise for sustaining a sense of wellbeing and connection to community & spirit. This is a space for anyone who would like to: • Find connection and solidarity with folks who are striving toward collective healing and repair. • Process and reflect on the experience of carrying a marginalised identity • Gain tools and insights on how to create rituals/routines that support our wellness practices Keisha (She/ her) @pleasureboundyoga is a queer, Black Filipina-American wellness, pleasure activist and educator.
