Yin Yoga and Chakra Nyasa
WITH JOE BARNETT
|
ABOUT Yin Yoga settles us into stillness of mind and body while we therapeutically stress a variety of deep tissue target areas. Chakra Nyasa draws our energy and awareness up and down the spine, piercing each of Tantra’s 7 spiritual centers along the way. This practice will incorporate variations of Yin Yoga’s 5-min cycles of stretching and pressurizing the body in a way that deeply calms the nervous system and brings a healthy lubrication between the sliding surfaces within all aspects of the body’s interior. Then, the body finds more comfort in sitting upright and more comfort reclining, and the mind finds more access to its power of imagination. From this point, the subtler practices of yoga proceed. Creative power is inherent within each of us, the power to rise higher and toward “Source,” and the power to lower into our connection with earth and community. This 2-hour workshop will include a small talk and Q&A about Yin Yoga and Chakra Nyasa. However, the most of our time will be spent learning through the practice. Please bring any extra props, blankets, or anything else you may need to assist in sitting comfortably upright, as well as anything you need to help you recline comfortably.
