Join Laura Shriver and special guest Alden Carroll for a day of mindfulness, breathwork, grounding techniques, self-myofascial release (SMR) and trigger point therapy, mobility work, and anatomy and kinesiology as it relates to the practice of yoga. In this workshop you will use a multitude of therapeutic techniques to cultivate an understanding of your body and nervous system. The aim of this workshop is to provide resources to create a personal map of oneself that includes the nervous system, and the fascial system. This will result in a more complete understanding of different ways that one can connect to, work with, and support their whole body. Facilitators Bios: Laura Shriver, LMT, 500RYT, has been teaching since 2008, and started her yoga journey in her early twenties. She found Yoga Oasis shortly thereafter and found her forever teachers, Darren Rhodes and Christina Sell, and her forever home, Yoga Oasis. Laura's classes are individualized and co-created so every person in attendance can receive personalized care and support. She melds together her accumulated knowledge from her yoga practice and lineage with her knowledge of working with people one-on-one in a therapeutic capacity. Her classes include self-myofascial release techniques, an emphasis on functional movement, mobility work and kinesiological awareness as it relates to each person in traditional yoga postures. Alden Carroll, MSW, LCSW, has been providing therapy, consultation, and coaching for over twenty-three years and has worked with more than two thousand clients of diverse ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about helping her clients, community members, and other professionals learn how to reduce stress, find more enjoyment in their lives, and feel more connected to themselves and their loved ones. Through meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and self-care, she practices what she teaches, and knows how beneficial it can be. |
